Here are answers to some of the most common questions about Random Wheel Spin.

🌀 What is Random Wheel Spin?

Random Wheel Spin is a fun, free and easy-to-use online spinning wheel that helps you make decisions or choose random outcomes. Whether you're picking a winner, selecting a meal, doing classroom activities, choosing a name, or deciding on your next travel destination — the wheel takes care of it all!

  1. Simply click the "Add Names" button and type wheel names or drag images into the popup box.
  2. Then click "Spin" in the center of the wheel.
  3. The wheel will spin for approximately 10 seconds and a random name will be selected.

🎯 Is the spin really random?

Yes! We use a combination of cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generation (CSPRNG) with provably fair logic, including SHA-256 hashing of a secret server seed. This ensures each spin is random, auditable, and tamper-proof.

$$ Is Random Wheel Spin free to use?

Yes! It is completely free to use.

📥 Can I save or load my wheel?

Absolutely. You can save your wheel as a file to your device and load it later. Great for recurring events or saved setups! Please bear in mind any changes to a loaded wheel will need to be re-saved if you want to keep any changes you have made to that wheel.

🔗 Can I share a wheel with others?

Yes — every wheel can be turned into a custom link that you can send to friends, colleagues, students, or anyone else. The wheel loads with your exact setup and is instantly shareable. The shared wheel link is a snapshot at the time that wheel was shared. If you need any changes to the shared wheel you must click the Share icon again to create a new link.

< / > Can I embed a wheel of names on my own website?

Yes — every wheel you create can be added to your own website. After you have created a wheel click the < / > Embed link in the top menu. This will give you a snippet of code that you can copy and paste into your own website's code. You can adjust the width and height as required. Only the wheel will be displayed on your website. All buttons and menus will be removed, keeping it much cleaner and simpler, allowing it to integrate better with your own branding. You can still click on the wheel to add/edit entries. If you want to customize it after you have already embedded it you can do so on the main randomwheelspin.com website but you will have to generate a new embed link.

Can I import wheel names from Excel or CSV?

Yes — when you click the Add Names button there is an "Import" button or you can simply and drag and drop an entire Excel or CSV file into the wheel names screen. When you do this it will ask you which column or range of columns you would like to import data from. You can import data from multiple columns or just one single column. You also have a toggle option to exclude or include the first row (column header). This option is perfect when you might have long lists of class names in a spreadsheet and want to copy those names over to the wheel - this saves a lot of time.

Can I import wheel names from Google Sheets (public and private)?

Yes — you can copy and paste directly from any Google Sheet — public or private — as long as you first manually select the specific cells in your Google sheet and press Ctrl+C (or ⌘+C on Mac) and paste into the wheel names screen. You can select multiple columns.

📱 Does the wheel of names work on mobile devices?

Yes. The site is fully responsive and optimized for mobile phones, tablets, and desktops. I am actually planning on converting it to an Android and iOS mobile app too in the very near future.

🤖 Can I trust the winner shown is accurate?

Yes. Every spin generates a new server seed and client seed that you can verify.

🎨 Can I customize colors or styles?

Yes. You can personalize the wheel colors, text contrast, and layout. There are 8 wheel colors you can customize. Just click "Change Colors". The wheel adapts to your entries and screen size automatically.

🧠 How many entries can I add to the wheel?

You can add over a 1000 entries — but keep in mind that smaller slices may affect readability on smaller screens. The wheel will adjust font size to make the best fit. Two of our wheels have 1000 wheel entries on them! Don't forget if you want to add large numbers of wheel entries you can drag and drop entire spreadsheets or copy and paste data from Google Sheets, directly into the wheel using the "Add Names" button
