1. What is Random Wheel Spin used for?

Random Wheel Spin is a free, customizable digital spinner tool which randomly selects an entry from a wheel which is divided into "slices". Each entry can hold a hidden activity behind it which makes each spin much more interactive. It can be used in many different ways. Here are just a few examples:

  • Classroom: Teachers can spin the wheel to randomly pick students, create quiz wheels, assign activities, or use hidden Q&As for participation and topic discussion.
  • Workplace: Assign tasks fairly, pick speakers in team meetings, or use in presentations for engagement, contact center gamification - reward agent performance.
  • Games & Parties: Truth or Dare, baby showers, trivia games, or family movie nights.
  • Competitions: Use the wheel of names in raffles, giveaways, or random draws.
  • Everyday Life: Decide dinner options, pick travel destinations, or brainstorm ideas.
  • Neurodiverse Users: Use as an online fidget spinner wheel for relaxation and focus. Users are helped by the visual engagement, sensory support and predictable structure of each spin. Wheels can be customized into special interest wheels.

3. What are hidden activities and actions and how do I add them?

This is a unique feature of Random Wheel Spin that allows you to store hidden activities, actions, or questions behind each wheel entry. Instead of just showing the chosen entry (like most spinners), the wheel can reveal additional instructions or surprises after the spin. To access this option click the Add Activities button and select which wheel entry you want to add a hidden activity or action for.

This feature can transform learning and presentations, making the process more interactive by keeping users engaged and motivated. It turns a simple spin into a two-step process.

Examples:

  • In education: A teacher might put student names on the wheel and link hidden questions or challenges behind each name.
  • In workplace presentations: A team member might spin for project topics, and each topic reveals hidden discussion points or action items.

4. Is Random Wheel Spin free to use?

Yes! It is completely free to use.

5. Can I save, share, or embed my spinner wheel?

Yes!

  • Save: To save a wheel to your hard drive click the Click to save your wheel  Save Wheel icon. This is beneficial if you want to create lots of different types of wheels. The saved file is stored on your computer's hard drive. No data is saved on our servers.
  • Open a Saved Wheel: To open a previously saved wheel click the Click to open a previously saved wheel  Open Wheel icon. When you click this you can browse your computer for any previously saved wheels so you can open them (your current wheel will be overwritten with the opened wheel).
  • Share: To share a wheel click the Click to share your wheel  Share icon to share the wheel with other people, including friends, family, students or colleagues. You can share your wheel to any other App on your device or create a sharable link to your wheel. Each link is a snapshot: changes require a new share link.
  • Embed: Click </> Embed in the top menu to generate a snippet of code which you can place on your website. Only the wheel will display on your website (ads are removed and the menu is hidden but still accessible), making it clean and brand-friendly.

6. Can I import names from Excel, CSV, or Google Sheets?

Yes! You can:

  • Excel/CSV: Drag-and-drop a file or click “CSV” when adding names. Choose columns, skip headers if needed, and import multiple columns at once.
  • Google Sheets: Select cells from any sheet (public or private), copy (Ctrl+C/⌘+C), and paste them directly into the Add Names screen.
This makes adding large class lists or datasets quick and easy.

7. Can I customize the spinner wheel?

Yes. You can adjust wheel colors, text contrast, and layout. There are 8 customizable color slots. You can also add images, background graphics, and hidden actions behind entries. The wheel automatically adapts to your entries and screen size.

8. Can the wheel remove results after each spin?

Yes. You can enable the Automatically remove result option so that each result is automatically removed from the wheel after being selected in a spin. This ensures no repeats unless you re-add them. Ideal for raffles, classroom activities, or games where every entry should be unique. To access this option click the Add Names button and toggle the Automatically remove result option to on.

9. Can the wheel speak results out loud?

Yes. You can enable the Speak Result option and the wheel will read the winning result and any hidden information aloud. This is especially useful for classroom teaching, group games, or accessibility support. To access this option click the Speak Result toggle to on (blue). The toggle is located to the right of the wheel in desktop mode or below the wheel in mobile view.

10. Can I use the wheel in fullscreen mode?

Yes. You can switch to fullscreen mode for a clean, distraction-free view. When fullscreen is active, menus and Google ads are hidden automatically. This makes it perfect for classroom use, livestreams, or presentations. Exit fullscreen to return to the normal view.

11. What are Advanced Settings?

Advanced Settings allow deeper customization:

  • Upload your own full-page background image
  • Adjust the spin duration (shorter or longer spins)
  • Mute or enable sounds
Access these by clicking the Advanced link next to the wheel.

12. Does the randomizer wheel spinner work on mobile devices or as an app?

Yes. The spinner is fully responsive for phones, tablets, and desktops.

Yes, you can also install it as an App on mobile and desktop:

  • Android: In Chrome, tap the menu → Add to Home ScreenInstall.
  • iPhone: In Safari, tap Share → Add to Home Screen (or enable it via Edit Actions if hidden).
  • Desktop: In the address bar look for a little icon on the right that looks like a tv screen with a downward arrow on it → Click the icon to Install as an app → Click the Install button.

13. Is the spin really random? Can I trust the winner?

Yes! Random Wheel Spin uses cryptographically secure pseudorandom number generation (CSPRNG) combined with provably fair logic. Every spin generates a new server seed and client seed, hashed with SHA-256, so results are random, verifiable, and tamper-proof.

14. Is my data secure and private?

Yes. All data is stored locally in your browser. We do not store wheel content on our servers, except for an anonymous spin count. Everything runs client-side.

15. How many entries can I add?

You can add over 1,000 entries with text and/or images. Font and image size adjusts automatically for readability, though very small slices may be harder to read on mobile. Large lists are easiest to add via spreadsheet import.
